Wooden joint
The traditional Longoni wooden joint was introduced in the sixties when the production of Longoni two-piece cues began, essentially for the carom and five-pins game. The starting point for the development of this joint were the two-piece French ‘Jolie’ cues, appreciated at that time by many players, worldwide.
Since, the Longoni wooden joint has become the standard, which quality the manufacturers around the world have been trying to match.
First, it was entirely handcrafted. From 2000, to ensure higher accuracy, CNC machinery was introduced. During fabrication of the joint, multiple control points apply for both butt and shaft threads to ensure a perfect lock and interchangeability. Recently, specialised gauges have been implemented to guarantee the constant quality all along the production process. Still, the last steps of polishing and quality control still require the final touch of our experienced craftsmen.
The main characteristics of the wooden joint are:
A firm lock, yet natural feel of a one-piece cue;
The cue has a smoother hit than with a metal joint;
The cue gives the player maximum feedback about the hit of the ball;
The cue is more flexible.
The wooden joint is to remain in the Longoni collection for future cues. Many pros - world champions - only want the Longoni wooden joint.
3lobite: The system can be installed but as extra option.
